GREAT WAYS TO CELEBREATE SUPER BOWL XLVIII

This year the Super Bowl will be hosted in the metropolitan area and all New Yorkers, not just football fanatics, should be excited!

We know most New Yorkers that follow football are bummed that neither the Jets or Giants are competing this year, but we should still celebrate because New York is co-hosting Super Bowl XLVIII with New Jersey. That means some amazing events are being hosted this upcoming Sunday by members of our chamber and free events are being held throughout New York City all week long featuring concerts, food, superstars, and more!

The east and west village are the best places to be on Super Bowl Sunday if you’re looking for an exciting place to enjoy the game. The Village Pourhouse and the 13th Step are two of NYC’s best sports bars to celebrate Super Bowl XVLIII in the east village.

The Village Pourhouse has one big screen for optimal viewing and surround sound. From 11am-6pm they offer $5 PH Bloody Marys (homemade secret recipe), $5 Mimosas, and $12 Bud Light pitchers.

At the 13th Step you’ll have over 32 HDTVs to watch the game on and their Sunday special features half off beer!        

If you’re in Greenwich village we recommend spending the day at Down the Hatch to watch the game on one of their many HDTVs and enjoy their many drink specials.

All offer great beer selections as well as appetizers that will make this Super Bowl Sunday your best one yet, with no need to worry about post-game cleanup!

But Super Bowl Sunday isn’t the only day to celebrate this year. The Super Bowl Host Committee and GMC have organized “Super Bowl Boulevard,” a free interactive experience that is open to the public, from Wednesday, January 29th until Saturday, February 1st in Times Square.

“Super Bowl Boulevard” will span from  Broadway and 34th St. to 47th St.  Some of the main attractions featured will be daily autograph signings with current and former NFL players (noon-6PM) and photos with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Concerts will be hosted nightly (8-10PM) and for the young at heart the Toboggan Run, a seven story slide, will be a featured ride to celebrate this Super Bowl as the first ever to be hosted in an open-air cold-weather environment.

For those of you that would rather stay toasty, a game of Celebrity Beach Bowl will be played on February 1st in a heated tent at Hudson River Park featuring NFL alumni and famous people.

The game starts at 2PM and is completely free but expect to arrive early. Lots of people are going to want to see Guy Fieri play a game with Joe Montana. Paramore will also be playing a concert after the game is over.

Don’t forget, one of the highlights of the Super Bowl is that it’s a great excuse to binge on finger foods.

This year Pepsi is hosting a three day event starting Wednesday, January 29th in Bryant park featuring samples of gourmet snacks, like Pepsi-glazed bacon sliders. Free musical performances by Ziggy Marley, Austin Mahone, and others will also be featured.
